چکیده

Lorentz microscopy combined with conventional transmission electron microscopy were used to image the magnetic domains and microstructures of sintered Sm~CobalCuxFe0.06Zr0.03)z ~0.088<x <0.128; 5.8<z<7.2! permanent magnets which were specifically designed for high temperature applications. The microstructural data were correlated with the magnetic measurements to understand the origin of coercivity. All sintered magnets showed typical cellular and lamellar microstructures. The cell size and coercivity were found to be more sensitive to z than to the Cu content. For a fixed Cu content, by increasing z from 5.8 to 7.2, the cell size was found to vary dramatically from 10 to 80 nm and the coercivity from 5.6 to 40 kOe, respectively. On the other hand, for fixed z, the cell size decreases slightly with increasing Cu content from 0.08 to 0.128 and the corresponding coercivity increases from 23.6 to 40 kOe. Both z and the Cu content show a smaller effect on the cell boundary width and lamella phase density. Domain wall pinning is observed in all magnets studied, irrespective of their cell size. The smaller the cell size, the less wavy the walls are, and the lower the coercivity. The Lorentz microscopy data indicate that the majority of pinning sites are the cell boundaries with occasional pinning at the intersection of cell boundaries with the lamella phase. © 2000 American Institute of Physics. @S0021-8979~00!29208-6#

Effect of Fe, Cu, Zr, and Ti on the Magnetic Properties of SmCo-1 : 7 Magnets - Magnetics, IEEE Transactions on

The effect of Fe, Cu, Zr, and Ti substitution on magnetic properties of SmCo 1 : 7 magnets at temperatures up to 500 C were studied. As-milled amorphous Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Ti–Zr)7 magnets crystallized in the TbCu7-type structure after annealing at 750 C for 2 h. A room-temperature intrinsic coercivity of around 2.5 T is obtained for compositions SmCo6 4Zr0 2Ti0 4 and SmCo6 4Fe0 1Zr0 1Ti0 4. The high c...

Effects of annealing on the coercivity of Sm(Co,Fe,Cu,Zr)z ribbons and its temperature dependence

Sm(CobalFe0.1CuxZr0.03)7 (x = 0.0–0.25) ribbons have been prepared by melt spinning. The effects of annealing parameters on coercivity and its temperature dependence have been studied systematically. It is found that the melt-spinning technique remarkably improves the magnetic properties and simplifies the annealing process. The high-performance precipitation-hardened magnets can be obtained by...

Structure and Magnetic Properties of Sm ( CobalFexTi 0 : 05 ) 9 : 66 Alloys ( x = 0 - 0 . 57 ) and Sm ( Co 0 : 66 Fe 0 : 19

Potential permanent magnetic materials with compositions of Sm(CobalFe Ti0 05)9 66 ( = 0–0.57) have been synthesized and characterized in the temperature range of 10–1473 K and at fields up to 5 T. The experimental results show that near single phase materials with Th2Ni17 structure were formed in Sm(CobalFe Ti0 05)9 66 alloys after splat quenching from 1473 K. The Ti atoms play an important ro...

Coercivity of titanium-substituted high-temperature permanent magnets

The temperature dependence of the coercivity of Sm–Co based magnets is investigated by magnetization measurements and model calculations. The Zr-free titanium-substituted Sm–Co material exhibits a positive temperature coefficient of the coercivity (TCC) above room temperature, a reasonable hysteresis-loop shape, and an appreciable coercivity of 12.3 kOe at 500 C for the nominal composition Sm(C...

The effects of high temperature homogenization and low temperature annealing treatments on the microstructure and magnetic properties of sintered magnets of an Nd17Fe76.5B5Cu1.5 type alloy have been investigated. The microstructure of the as-cast alloy, consisted of three phases including a Nd2Fe14B1 (2:14:1- type) matrix phase Cu-containing Nd-rich Phase and Free α-iron. The as-sintered magnet...
